Labor In the Movies

Brothers on the LineWhat role can movies play in the growth of the labor movement and in labor education? This week on Labor Lines  we learn about the founding of the UAW by the Reuther Brothers with Sasha Reuther, (grandson of Victor Reuther) director of “Brothers On The Line.” This documentary reveals how the UAW overcame violent reactions by Ford and other union busting efforts to become the strong union it is today.  Next we discuss “Strength In Union”, a documentary series which shows, over four installments, how labor movements of the past relate to the present over four segments. Director Caesar Pink and Producer Daniel Waingarten talk about the mission behind this documentary series and some of the experiences they had piecing together the extensive history of the US labor movement.
