Police OfficerIn our continued coverage of Police Union issues in New York we examine what the Nassau PBA and Police Conference of New York have been doing to address biased news coverage and unfriendly legislators.

Local Police Perspective

The Nassau County PBA has faced a series of scathing reports from Newsday.  Jimmy Carver, President of the Nassau County PBA answers some of the questions brought up by Newsday and discusses the working conditions that cause many of the misconceptions about police work. Urging that County Executive Mangano appoint an “insider” to run the department, he decries the politicization resulting from the appointment of an outsider, and says the results speak for themselves to the detriment of the cop on the beat and the public .

New York Statewide Police Perspective

Richard Wells, President of the Police Conference of New York discusses statewide issues effecting Police Officers, and praises the new labor solidarity that’s  been recently established with non-law enforcement unions as typified by the Nassau County Rally with the PBA and CSEA, protesting County Executive Mangano’s efforts to rip up union contracts.

This program aired on WGBB AM 1240 in Nassau and on Suffolk’s WRCN LI NewsRadio 103.9 fm on January 4th and on WJVC 96.1 fm “My Country” on January 5th.
