In this show, which aired on WJVC, lawyer and entrepreneur Dave Calone discusses why he is running to oppose Lee Zeldin in the Disctrict 1 Congressional race. Ross Eisenbrey, Vice President of the Economic Policy Institute discusses the WAGE Act and what it could mean for collective bargaining.
The WAGE Act (Workplace Action for a Growing Economy) was introduced by Senators Patty Murray (D-Wash) and Robert C. (Bobby) Scott (D-VA) to strengthen protections for workers who want to engage in collective action. It would amend the NLRA and crack down on employers who try to stymie activity. In the press conference announcing the legislation the Senators were joined by Richard Trumka and Ross Eisenbrey.
Dave Calone, venture capitalist and chairman of the Suffolk County Planning Commission is a candidate for the Democratic primary for the 1st Congressional District but like his opponent has his sights set on the incumbent freshman congressman Lee Zeldin (R).
